Welcome

A warm welcome to the Wrecclesham Conservation Group. We are a friendly, inclusive community group of volunteers coming from all walks of life with a common interest in preserving and enhancing the natural habitat in the Wrecclesham area.

Our primary focus is on clearing and restoring the overgrown areas of the churchyard of St Peter’s church, Wrecclesham to uncover its history and heritage and create a wildlife corridor. With two centuries behind the churchyard there are many family and war graves. Additionally we have planted many bulbs and made  flower beds to brighten up and make the churchyard a more attractive and wildlife friendly place. We would like to do some more flowerbed creation outside the churchyard having revived one, which with the right planting will also attract insects.

We regularly hold survey sessions to record numbers and diversity of the wildlife species found in and around the Wrecclesham area. This is particularly carried out for moth, bee, bat and other insect types and contributes to the biodiversity inventory for Farnham as a whole.

We are particularly keen to engage youth and family participation in our activities and regularly hold events in which these can engage; and we also take part in other events and with other specialist interest groups.

Our longer term aims extend for example to footpath maintenance and undertaking other local projects which will enhance our natural habitats and green spaces.
